I have no problem with the city employees coming to the meeting, especially since the decision of the city council will directly impact them.
As for everyone who bashes the city government, either go work for them and start making a change, run for city office or volunteer for one of the many boards. Everyone is a taxpayer, but complaining without some sort of conducive action goes nowhere.
What a waste of time and energy. Religion is already protected by the Constitution. All churches should stay out of politics; if not, tax them until they bleed.
It takes a lot of guts to stand up for what you believe in, whether or not it's the popular thing to do. The folks in Jeff City helped contribute a lot towards the building of the new animal shelter. I applaud these folks for taking the time and effort to bring to light some of the deplorable living conditions these animals face and am surprised that anyone would be against them.
Planning and zoning is a touchy subject anywhere you go in Missouri due to the large amount of misinformation put out what those two actually do. In relation to the most of the counties in the state (who don't have planning or zoning), Cole County is definitely heading in the right direction.
Tear down and melt JoePa's statue and sell the metal for all of the payouts that Penn State will have to make to Sandusky's victims. I love college football, but not at the sake of keeping pedophiles protected. The NCAA should throw the book at PSU. The players should allowed to transfer elsewhere without the penalty of sitting out a year. However, much like NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, a message has to be sent that this behavior, attitude, and culture will not be tolerated. To quote Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) from Pulp Fiction: "'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." This "Come to Jesus" message is the only way that anyone will learn.

Cole County to work on zoning plan
I'm glad to see Cole County finally going forward with zoning. This will help the area develop in a planned and responsible manner.
