I won't argue that organized crime existed before prohibition, but can you deny that organized crime did not grow and flourish because of prohibition?
If these sobriety check points were REALLY concerned with saving lives, they would also check each vehicle to see if the driver's cell phone had been used for texting in the last five minutes. Many studies and tests have proven that texting while driving is more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. The University of Utah confirmed that texting while operating a vehicle is twice as dangerous as driving drunk.
But I guess most people would feel that having their car searched for a cell phone and having it examined by a police officer would be an invasion of their privacy..........
Although I consider myself an independant voter, I have voted for more Republicans candidates than I have Democrats. It is one thing for a candidate to lie and mislead the public, but it is even worse when that candidate's party lies and deceives the public. I will now have a very hard time believing anything that the State's Republican party's leaders tell us.
I AM NOT defending the couple that was arrested. The article describes that the young children were living in deplorable conditions and they should have been taken out of the home. What does bother me is that the couple was not arrested for drugs, but were arrested for narcotics distribution materials.
Since when did baggies become illegal?
With all the legal knowlege you have shared with us on this forum, it surprises me that YOUR name was not on the list...........
Does your post imply that you have a right to text while driving?
Over 700 vehicles stopped and only seven arrests for DWI violations. That is a success rate of less than ONE PERCENT! Quite a return on that investment.
I hope these safety stops start examining the driver's cell phone to see if any texting has been done in the last five minutes. This would indicate that the driver had been texting while driving. Texting while driving is as dangerous as driving while impaired and in some circumstances it is illegal.
I would like to hear Akin define what he considers to be a LEGITIMATE rape.
Looks like another fine prosecution by Kenny Hulshof is going to be thrown out. This will make three of Kenny's railroad jobs thrown out by the courts. Why does this man still have a license to practice law?
Akin said. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” Akin said of a rape victim’s chances of becoming pregnant.
I am sure Akin did mispeak. He probably forgot to say, if a woman does become pregnant during a legitimate rape then that is also her fault too...........
