If I'm a county resident and pay taxes for the County Fire Protection District, and then shop in the city and pay a sales tax for the city fire dept., it feels like double taxation for the same service from two different entities. Clearly this sales tax is a great windfall for the fire dept and whomever gets the redirected general revenue funds. Let's be clear about what this is an what it isn't. At the end of the day, it's a new sales tax. If you're in favor of higher taxes spread out amongst more citizens, go for it. If you want fewer taxes then live, breathe, and shop in the county. Of course endless annexations won't hardly allow you to shop or stay in a hotel room in the county. The only difference between the city and organized crime, is the mayor and city council are elected.
