Auditor: Missouri has too many state airplanes January 26, 2015
I've also heard that the vet is fresh out of school and has never had a full time job. Now he's running a department? Yeah, right, he's a talking head for Karen.
While I'm very glad to hear this, I do have a question. Does Dr. McCann have any experience running a shelter or a department? Dr. D had experience and education, and Karen wouldn't listen to her so I hope they hired someone with equal or greater credentials.
For those following along from the previous story: I have emailed the city administrator twice asking for proof that Dr D lied and said she was fired. He emailed saying she lied, and I feel like someone in his position shouldn't make such accusations without proof. No word back yet.
When the budget crunch hit there were quite a few of us that thought getting rid of the director and letting the vet do both jobs was an easy way to save a lot of money.
My dog did get loose once. I called about an hour later when I wasn't able to find her, and I picked her up later that day. Had she been a cat, she could have been killed in that amount of time.
Karen? Is that you? I think part of the proposal with wildlife said exactly what you say here, that it's the responsibility of the home owner not the city.
Do you think they ever check the freezer? If not, how many cats were gassed that no one ever knew about? Pet cats, I mean not feral.
Dr. D was pretty adamant that she would have the shelter kill rate down to 15% if she could stop the 200 feral cat killings a year. It looks like she was right if she had it down to 21% already. I love how Jennings blames that on a building when anyone that has volunteered there knows the amount of changes the doctor has made since her fellowship. Building ventilation does not lower your kill rate that much. That takes hard work on the part of someone that cares. I hope it will stay lower because of the programs Dr. D implemented that hopefully the new vet will keep going. I would guess it will veer back up some or at least stop the downward movement though.
I feel for Linda. I had not heard that entire story before other than what was said in the comments of the other story. I wonder how many missing cats actually died in the chamber before their owners called. If Linda hadn't called back and been persistant she would have never known.
This gas chamber thing just baffles me. The issue before was the fact that Jennings lied about the gas chamber and hid it from the doctor so she would shut up about it. Also, it appears to everyone that Jennings was using it without the doctor's knowledge. When Dr. D questioned her on it, she had the vet removed. This article proves that Dr. D was right. If they were just storing the gas chamber rather than disposing of it they obviously had no intent to get rid of it. Jennings was being sneaky and deceiving and obviously knew when she removed it on June 8th that the doctor would be leaving and the gas chamber could return at some point. That's funny since the doctor didn't submit her resignation until June 14th. Things don't add up here.
Is leaving because of a "personality issue" a nice way to say the doctor thought the director was a horrible human being? LOL
And whose idea was it to start that foster program, pray tell? I work with the city, I know all parties involved, and I can assure you that the word 'caring' does not describe the women employed by the shelter. A couple of the officers, maybe so, but not the others.
I emailed my city councilman and got a reply back from the city administrator instead. He said Dr D lied about being fired. Ummm, where did she ever say she was fired? Can anyone point me to that? He also said the gas chamber was removed prior to her "firing". Ummm, removed, yes. But it was still in use, and she was lied to about it. I don't think he gets the issue at all. He doesn't seem to care that the director is deceptive enough to hide a gas chamber, lie about it being used, then insist on the removal of the vet rather than admit she lied. Unbelievable.
It is about Dr D, but it's also not. There is a larger issue that revolves around the city closing ranks and blindly backing someone that has been known to lie before. Then there's the fact that no one will say where the chamber is and if it's being used. And who in their right mind would go to so much work to protect a gas chamber?
Just tell the truth!
