I look at the posting here and realize none of you care that 60 plus men ,women, mothers, fathers yes and even grandparents is a small comunity just lost there jobs.
I see the faces of friends, of there children, at the store in the schools, across the street wondering what they will do. these are my neighbors, my friends, and you all need to be a bit more compationet because it could be you.
I understand how you feel. When Johnson Controls shut down their plant here in Jeff. lots of people lost their jobs. Three shifts that used to run 24 hours a day. Now there is nothing. My dad worked there for about 15 years. Almost all of his friends worked there. When they shut down, a whole segment of our city went under. It hurts me to even drive by the plant now. You are NOT alone. I hope that your friends and family can find a way to continue on. I also personally pledge not to eat anything Cargill now that it will be coming from China. After all, if they will poison dog food and baby toys, I just don't trust things that come from over there. Again I hate that your family is going thru this, may God keep an extra special eye on ya'll, cause you are going to need it to get through this as a community.
I've been running around the internet trying to find info re:jobs going over seas but couldn't find a solid answer. I do sympathize with everyone who is scared, uncertain, and maybe even angry. So many people ....It's heart breaking and I care.
Like many states, Missouri has been hit hard from the recession and outsourcing of jobs. Here are a few statistics that outline the magnitude of job loss in the state:
•Between 2000 and 2008, Missouri lost 75,800 manufacturing jobs.
•Since the recession began in 2008, the state has lost over 13% of manufacturing jobs.
•Between 2001 and 2008, Missouri has lost 38,300 jobs due to trade with China alone, that's 1.38% of employment.
Thanks JCLifer. I'm still pretty new to the computer world and don't know where to look for numerous things. In other words I'm a computer dummy. It's mind boggling to think of all the people who have lost jobs or will lose jobs. And there are so many factors involved. Jobs going over seas, companies closing, what people do when the money stops coming in from any benefits they have etc. and of course the political side such as who can do something to get the country on an upswing. I wish there were some concrete answers. This group of people say President Obama will turn things around and that group of people say Mr. Romney will. Hopefully things will get better but that's not helping all the people right now who don't have a job or are going to lose their job. So many questions and not enough answers.
