Officials: Report finds patterns of racial bias by Ferguson police March 3, 2015
I wonder how much the "average customer's bill" is compared to the $8 increase? It seems my bill always increase by two or three times the amount they call average.
Traffic offenses simply do not occur along demographic percentages.
If you can spot the race and gender of a driver at 200 yards when you clock them with a radar unit, your eyes are better than mine.
Law enforcement need bigger cars for several reasons. First, an officer spends 8-12 hours a day in that vehicle. Comfort is a big issue. Consider the vehicle their office.
Second, each officer needs a large amount of equipment in that vehicle. Cones, flares, rain gear, first aid kit, etc. A small compact car simply doesnt have the trunk space for all that equipment.
Third, officers need to transport prisoners on a regular basis. JCPD uses cages in their patrol vehicles and you can barely fit one of those in a Crown Vic, much less a compact car. Remember that the prisoner has to fit easily in the back seat WITH the cage installed.
It is appropriate. I was watching a news channel that talked for about 2 minutes about the disaster in Joplin.
Then they led into another story for the next 10 minutes: "Speaking of disaster, Katrina victims......"
Frankly, it annoyed me.
I can say this: We in Missouri will get through this. We will help our neighbors. We will pray for our friends and family. We will rebuild and move on with our heads held high.
We wont milk this trajedy for the next ten years like New Orleans.
Making a net profit is fine. But when you are essentially a monopoly, excessive profits are just unacceptable.
I have stock in Wal-Mart and I earned less than 2.7% on my stock last year, but I dont see them closing up shop.
My question for Ameren UE is simple: "Did you make a profit last year?"
If the answer is "Yes", then they don't need a rate increase.
If they made a profit and they want a rate increase, it just means they want a bigger profit.
No, I believe in paying what the market says you are worth, not what a union says you are worth.
Your worth to an organization in terms of salary and benefits is directly tied to education, experience, and skills, plain and simple.
Unions are not beneficial for anyone but the union itself.
Members pay the dues, but get little in return while the leaders continue to post six digit incomes.
Wake up people! If you think the unions have your best interests at heart, you are in for an awakening!
The job market is such that people are hired based on skill, experience, and education, pure and simple. You will get paid what the market will pay.
There is already a law that covers this, "careful and prudent driving."
We do no need a new law specific for texting. If law enforcement agencies inform the public that you could be cited for "C & I Driving" for texting and prosecutors support those tickets, that will get the same result.
