The way I see it, had the utility company been allowed to start working on additional generation via another reactor at Callaway, then the Ameren customer base, along with neighboring providers like the co-ops and KCP&L would be able to face another season without having to pass-on the already incurred costs of previously used generation/transmission usage to the consumers. We're simply paying for what we've already used. Do we really expect to continue living on someone else's dime? Someone's footing the bill; we as Americans are not 'entitled' to electricity, I'm sorry to say and can't expect to go around getting something for nothing. That may be a shocker but it's the truth.
