Commission names Broeker MoDOT's interim director April 1, 2015
Dilemma? No more than the dilemma called the “General Assembly”. The same uninformed voters elect legislators based on glitzy ads or pretty faces. Legislators gathered in one “barrel” – easy shooting for high paid selfish-interest lobbyists.
Then they pass omnibus bills few law-makers even read, let alone understand – laws that amount to “legal plunder” and plague the people – laws that allow a developer to take your home or business by eminent domain to build yet another shopping center for his private profit.
Still, a General Assembly full of elected representatives is the best system yet devised – but it still needs the “check” on abuse of power that the people's ballot initiative provides.
If a law, whether passed by the general assembly or the voters in the case of a ballot initiative, violates the constitutional rights of someone else, then legislators are duty bound to repeal it. That's what their oath of office is all about -- to support and defend the constitution of the United States and Missouri.
