A convention center would be nice but it needs to be privately owned and managed. The city has neither the expertise nor the resources required to design and run such a facility. If the city builds it, it will be a drain on city money from now on. The voters in Jefferson City gave the council free license to raise our sewer rates to nearly 45% when the voters passed the sewer bond issue. The same will happen if the voters ok the lodging tax. Just vote no.
