I remember when I was a kid, going to local grocery stores and seeing people walking in the aisles smoking while shopping and stomping their cig butts out on the floor when they were done with them. I remember smoking on airplane flights and when I went to high school back east in a suburb outside of D.C. there was even a smoking section for students where you would find kids as young as 14 smoking without hassle.
This sucks. I really hate the idea of having to set up an appointment or go to an urgent care clinic, pay possibly 80 to 100 dollars in order to see a doctor just to get a prescription for the only thing that relieves my cold symptoms. I think I'll stock up on and start hoarding the medicine before this goes into effect. I am sure Jay Nixon won't have the same problem should he want to get relief for his cold symptoms. He'll just call someone up, tell them he needs a prescription and send an employee to pick it and the medicine up for him. No skin off his back.
If the guy brandishes a firearm on me, he's asking to get himself shot. He better be in uniform, have his gun in his holster and be in a marked police car using the correct flashing lights and be equipped with a siren if needed. Any scummy crook with a minor amount of sense that wants to get a jump on his victim can knock on your door or come up to your car window and shout police.
The place isn't causing the problems. It's the people who are using it or at least some of those people. What is Jefferson City going to do, punish the place and just make these same people just go pay to cause their mayhem in another location?
Is Jefferson City going to generalize certain sectors of the population based on some physical characteristics shared by those few people who have caused some problems and just ban those groups wholesale from partaking in the activities that the rest of us are free to do? Watch out where you go with this one Jefferson City.
Its not the business that is responsible for this young man being shot anymore so than dozens of other things you can drum up to connect the dots with.
There are some things that are made better from some companies overseas and then there are others that aren't. I have grown tired of buying tools and appliances that are constantly breaking during normal use of these items. We have made a concerted effort over these past few years in my household to start researching and paying more for better rated and more durable goods and to repair what we can instead of purchasing more.
Turn the other cheek, forgive the kid and let him go. That's the Christian thing to do and is probably would be more of a positive motivator to turn his life around than it is to seek retribution for his attack against items, symbolism and property. Practice what you preach.
If the State isn't going to recognize his birthday on the actual date, they might as well celebrate it and make the holiday fall in April, May or June when people have a better chance to enjoy their day off from work.
There are way too many holidays being crowded into the winter months.
I gotta hand it to all the State workers who put in one whale of an effort to clear our roads here in Mid Mo. They did a fantastic job and did it incredibly quick. I think they've went above and beyond all reasonable expectations with the size of the storm they had to deal with. Much kudos to the superb planning and execution and the extra hours all these people put in to get it done. I am impressed to say the least.
People who deny the facts and data are even more dangerous. The world has been warming for years now. The average air temperatures have been at the highest levels in recorded history. Even more alarming is that the oceans have been going through an unprecedented warming trend as well. Those facts aren't in question. It takes someone of the mentality that thinks the world is still flat, a true modern day imbecil, to deny it.
We can even see dramatic increases in carbon dioxide emissions by comparing today's atmospheric make up with that of the recent and distant path through polar ice sampling. This steady increase can be traced back to beginnings of our industrial revolution.
What is open to questioning is why the air and the oceans are getting warmer. The debate is if the present conditions are caused by humans or if they are just another natural cycle that the world is known to go through. That's a legitimate debate being played out in the political landscape.

Did they ever find that kid who got out of a patrol car and jumped off the Mo River bridge in Jefferson City while handcuffed and shackled?
