I'm not crazy about my old plan, but I get to keep it. Or maybe the boss will change it. Who knows?

The neighbors had a coyote killing last weekend (I was otherwise engaged on the farm but could hear the gunfire.) Did not sound like semi-automatics were being used. Probably some deer rifles and such. They think they got the entire pack of 6 or 7 animals.

And how old will these guys and maybe a few gals be when they retire from their multimillion dollar jobs? 50? 60? Have any of them worked as roofers, farmers, autobody repairmen or a host of other jobs that destroy your body by the time you are 65? Desk jobs don't destroy your body but many jobs do. We should not forget that. Don't tell me these CEOs have not figured out a way to maximize profits and rake in more money for themselves with this plan. SS and Medicare need changes badly, and soon, but I would not trust a bunch of overpaid CEOs to come up with the best plan.

I agree rj27. I pay a fortune for property insurance and have used it for hail storms. However, in the event of 22 inches of snow, like we had two years ago, the county would have been hard pressed to make up the money it spent on overtime, fuel and salt while clearing roads. For about 36 hours, our road was impossible to travel in anything short of a bulldozer. Had one of us had a fire, the fire department could not have gotten to us, nor could an ambulance or the sheriff. People need to have flood insurance or get out of flood/hurricane zones. They need to have property insurance or not own property. Areas around Jefferson City were depopulated after the 1993 Great Flood, with government funding but limiting government exposure the next time the Missouri River goes on a rampage. I think that is good planning, and more of that needs to be done along other rivers and along our coasts.

1770's - The Northern Liberals tried to disallow ALL Blacks from being counted as citizens or residence in ALL states while the Southern Conservatives sought to count each one. Yet somehow this is now reported by Liberal Democrats as being 3/5th a human? Read Article 1, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution. It reads, in part "Representataives and {direct Taxes} shall be apportioned among the several States...according to their respective Numers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, inclluding those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.} Liberal Democrats did not create the 3/5ths rule. Our founding fathers did.

So a shotgun used for turkey hunting, with camo paint on it 'cause turkeys see so well, is an assault weapon?

No, they don't. I unload my guns inside the house too. But it is not unusual for a student who hunts to have a gun, maybe loaded and maybe not, in their vehicle at school. Out here in the country, the school officials just let them know the gun has to be where they can't see it and remind the kids to keep their trucks and cars locked. There is lots of hunting before and after school around here. I'm only aware of one problem with that and it was up around St. Elizabeth a couple of years ago. I think the teens got convicted after they shot a youngster playing on a porch. Beer was involved, if I remember right. The trap guns are kept secured by the sponsor until they get to the practice/competition facility.

Trap shooting and archery are still school sports. Many FFA chapters in the Ozarks have trap shooting teams and some have archery teams. Archery is also being taught in some rural schools as part of PE and lots of 4-H chapters have gun and archery teams. My nephew has competed in .22 rifle competitions as part of 4-H the last two years. Two years ago, the kids filled facilities at Linn Tech to overflowing at the state archery shoot.
