Yep. Everyone who wants to own a gun should be able to all right.
I hardly think turning our schools into the OK Corral is the way to go. But I wouldn't consider armed security a bad idea.
When my son was 3-4, he was having problems in daycare. Wouldn't behave, sit still in class, he was disruptive. The daycare insisted I take him to a child psychologist. I was a single mother who hadn't even been around kids until I had my own, so I did what the instructed, The man spent 20 minutes in a room with my son, not allowing me in, and then told me he needed Ritalin. The reason? Every time he heard a noise he looked at the door. Well, imagine that - he was only in a strange place and didn't know where I was. So I took him to a child psychiatrist. We spent 1/2 an hour sitting and chatting while my son quietly put together puzzles in the corner. In the end I did put him in a program through the school, becasue he needed structure he didn't get at preschool. When I went to the first psychologist, who was the one the school wanted a referral from he grudgingly gave it, insisting I'd have to eventually put the boy on drugs anyway. He didn't need drugs, he needed the teachers to show him who was boss! Don't get me wrong, my son's never been an "easy" kid. The last 14 years, he's tested the boundries every chance he got. But he didn't need drugs.
None of that is to say that mental health issues shouldn't be addressed. But I would agree they are overdiagnosed in young children. I'm pretty sure that Adam's problems were apparent and that he should have had help he didn't get. You don't get crazy enough to shoot your mother then go kill little kids, without someone noticing.
Extremism of any type is generally a bad thing.
Yes, I'll agree with that. :)
I'll happily admit if I'm wrong...but it's my understanding that the investment - the original money - isn't taxed again, they tax the income from it. I don't know about you, but I claim my interest from my checking and savings accounts on my taxes and I pay the same tax rate on it as I do my salary. So why is income from an investment different?
Stopped logging in a month or so ago because I was tired of all the politics. But I had to do it today, just to skip the article to see the comments. Grace, you didn't disappoint.
So, the fact that he, nor any other president since Reagan, nor any member of congress until just this year, introduced any bill to repeal this law, makes it his? Is that what you are saying, because I really don't get the logic there.
Not trying to be a smart aleck...really trying to understand how he's to blame for the money being spent on a program from 1985 or so.
You are aware that the phone program wasn’t started by President Obama, right? It was part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and that was an extension of a program that began in in the 1980's. That someone decided to call it "Obama phone" doesn't make it an Obama administration program. He had nothing to do with it. In fact, I'm pretty sure the expansion to cover cell phones, instead of landlines, occured prior to the 2008 election.
Why does there have to be two football teams with two high school buildings? Why can't there be "JCHS East Campus" and JCHS West Campus" (or whatever direction the new one is) and one team drawn from both schools? I just don't get why that's a problem...but then I'm not a football person.
