Meanwhile our infrastructure continues to deteriorate, even as interest rates are at lowest lows ever, and unemployment is exceedingly high. The state continues to rot, citizens continue to suffer, and the rich corporations and fat cats get richer.
How many picnic tables for our parks would the $30,000.00 buy?
How many pot holes would the $30,000 repair?
How many sidewalks could be fixed with the $30,000?
How many computers would $30,000 buy for our school children?
How much weed killer spray could we buy for $30,000 to kill the weeds at the local parks and make them look more attractive?
The $30,000 could have been used to buy an old school bus to convert into a trolley for Uptown folks to ride in.
Crazy that we need a consultant to tell us what we already know. The consultant will only do what we ask him to do, so why don't we just do it ourselves and save the $30,000?
No lobbying by City of Jeffeson or Chamber on this?
State employee wages are the #1 economic driver of the local economy bar none.
A conference center would not do nearly as much as a 2% across the board increase.
Think of what kind of boost a 15% across the board increase would give the local economy...
Stuck at the lowest #50 wages of all states, and the JC Leaders are still scratching their heads why the city is not growing and tax reciepts continue to spiral downward, while the region's largest employer continues to put more local families in poverty and food stamp elligibility.
A rising tide lifts all ships. To bad this tide is drying up and leaving Jefferson City stuck tightly in the mud.
People still smoke.
People still overeat.
People still do drugs.
People still text and talk on their cell phones when driving.
People are stupid.
The real question is why does Missouri have more stupid people than other states?
You know, a lot of the goofiness seemed to get amped up when we got the city charter and hired a city administrator. Not sure this is a huge contributor, but it makes me wonder. Seems the council lost a lot of power when we turned over control to a city manager.
A few years later, the Chamber got a whole lot more powerful too.
One thing for sure, the ultra low salaries and lack of opportunities are killing this town.

Shameful waste of our tax dollars...
They just don't get it, and it seems they never will.
Vote these clowns out and try again. The circle never ends.
