It is the name of a mythical greek man named "Sisyphus" who was tasked to push a boulder up hill, just to have it roll back down... forever. It was a joke implying that keeping these spammers at bay is much like pushing a boulder up a hill.
JCLifer- Much like we did not "give" you an account, we did not give spammers an account. Similarly, the spammer filled out the captcha just like you did. We are still working towards a spam free environment, and I thank those of you who help police our site for spam by using the "Suggest Removal" link next to each post.
The certainly are nothing if not tenacious (the spammers that is)! That is for sure... my apologies. Move, counter move, move, counter move... it like Sisyphus.
I took the lead out of the box, that should help the covering of the images. Also, that black box is only black in Explorer as it is the only browser that does not support transluscent colors. You might try Firefox. Thanks for the input!
I am working on it. The new filter works way differently than the old one. My apologies and thanks for your patience. Anyone else that runs into that problem, let me know webmaster@newstribune.com.
We did in fact install a filter, obviously this did not catch all the spam, in fact it fell quite short. We understand that this has caused some frustrations and we apologize. We will be installing captcha on the registration field and on the comment field. This will take some time, so I ask for a bit of your patience. We will get this worked out. Thanks!
We are still dealing with the issue of spam. We apologize for the onslaught of these annoying posts. We encourage everyone to ignore them and to not click on the links if there are any. Thank you for your patience.
I just wanted to also thank everyone for all the feedback! It really has been helpful. I have been using the feedback to guide me in adjustments. We really do have the best readers. You all are very patient and I really feel like we are doing this transition together. Please keep the feedback coming!

I might just poke fun at myself on this and ask you to please not shop at any of the spammers we had... :)
However you choose to spend you holiday, enjoy.
