Aiming to get people to safety sooner as a big storm approaches, the National Weather Service will expand that re-tooled severe weather warning system, from Kansas and Missouri to 12 more Midwestern states. Starting Monday, April 1, 2013, it will provide media outlets and emergency services with more detail about the strength of a brewing tornado or thunderstorm, what it may hit and when.
