Ameren line crews worked in the rain Tuesday afternoon to replace a series of poles and restore electricity to business and residences along Business 50 West in St. Martins after Tuesday’s high winds caused several poles to blow over and lines to snap. Several roofs were damaged and trees toppled in the storm.

Spring-like storm smacks Cole County

Straight-line winds Tuesday afternoon snapped about a half-dozen utility poles, interrupted electrical power to about 200 customers and uprooted a tree that blocked U.S. 50 and Business 50 in the Apache Flats/St. Martin’s area.
