John Edward Buechter U.S. Veteran

September 6, 1949 - May 11, 2013

John Edward Buechter, 63, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1949, a son of the late Otto Joseph and Reta Rose (Buschmann) Buechter. On January 5, 1974, John was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Boden, who survives at the home. John attended St. Peter Grade School and was a 1968 graduate of Helias Catholic High School. He received an Associate degree in Auto Mechanics from Linn Technical College and an Associate degree in Heating and Air Conditioning from Bailey Technical College in St. Louis. He was employed with St. Mary's Health Center from 1967 to 1972 and the State of Missouri from 1976 to 2008. John served in the United States Marine Corps in 1972. He was a member of St. Peter Holy Name Society and a founding member of St. Peter Perpetual Adoration. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Sharon, he is also survived by one daughter: Michel Buechter-Philipak of Jefferson City; four brothers: Anthony (Marla) Buechter, Ambrose (Cindy Renick) Buechter, August (Patricia) Buechter, Charles (Wanda) Buechter, all of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew, and Nicholas Philipak; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Cecilia (Buechter) Prenger; one sister-in-law: Pamela Sue (Howard) Buechter; and one nephew: Jason Martin Buechter. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Viviano officiating. Interment will follow at the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Grandchildren's Educational Fund. Sharon, I was so sorry to read of John's passing. It has been many years since I visited JC, but still try to keep up with news back there. Jerry Byers(former administrator Still Hospital)
