Donald Allen Borchelt U.S. Veteran

Donald Allen Borchelt, 77, of Jefferson City, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home. He was born March 26, 1936, in Normandy, Missouri, the son of Elmer and Constance (Kearns) Borchelt. He was a 1955 graduate of Normandy High School and was a graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. On January 13, 1962, Donald was united in marriage in Alton, Illinois, to Judith Marian Hale, who survives at their home. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1954 to 1957, during which time he served on the USS Des Moines. Donald worked for the Missouri National Guard Credit Union for 30 years, retiring in 1989 as President. He and his wife Judith also owned and operated Central Missouri Recovery for over 20 years and operated Central Missouri Recovery Process Services until his death. For 43 years, Donald served on the Board of Directors and as head of the Personnel Committee for Wonderland Camp. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of over 51 years, Judith, he is survived by two children: Tim Borchelt and wife Laurie of Holts Summit, and Leslie Fields and husband John of Santa Fe, New Mexico; five grandchildren: Alyssa Borchelt, Ryne Borchelt, Hannah Borchelt, all of Holts Summit, Molly Fields and Katie Fields, both of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and one great-grandchild, Lainyn Lochhead of Holts Summit. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Barbara Barbour and Connie Mahaffy. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Interment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
