Mrs. Kay Lahmeyer, age 92 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Kay was born August 26, 1920, in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Lucius W. and Hattie M. Rodgers Strozier. She was married on October 11, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., to Raymond H. Lahmeyer, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2007. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1946, Kay graduated from Little Rock Junior College, Little Rock, Ark., with a degree in Business and from Park College in Parksville, Mo. with a degree in Music. She also attended Lincoln University. A homemaker, Kay had been employed as the Youth Choir Director with the First United Methodist Church for three years and later with the First Christian Church for three years. She was a substitute teacher in the Jefferson City Public School and a visiting caretaker for the Missouri River Home Health Center. Kay was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was past president of the United Methodist Women, past chairman of the Naomi Circle, and past president of the Harmony Sunday School Class. She was past member of the Board of Directors of the Agape House for 10 years and an officer with the Jefferson City of Clubs. She was a volunteer with Memorial Community Hospital and later with Capital Region Medical Center and was also a volunteer with the Colson Fellowship Bible Study for inmates incarcerated in prisons. Kay was a volunteer pianist for worship services at three nursing homes Survivors include: her children, Charles R. Lahmeyer and his wife Lois of Jefferson City, Mo., Dr. Henry W. Lahmeyer and his wife Jamie Lilie of Wilmette, Ill., Robert W. Lahmeyer and his wife Sue of Conroe, Texas, and Karen S. Gill and her husband Steve of Jefferson City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, several step- grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one granddaughter, Kristen Lahmeyer. Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Assn. of Missouri.
