Danny Eugene Moore U.S. Veteran

October 19, 1948 - May 4, 2013

Danny Eugene Moore, 64, of Henley, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the University of Missouri Medical Center. He was born on October 19, 1948, in Bessemer, Alabama, the son of the late James Curtis Moore and the late Laurine Cargile Moore Roberts. He was united in marriage to Doris Wolf on May 2, 1970; they met in 1967 while Danny was serving in the United States Coast Guard in Gasconade, Mo. Danny served an active tour duty in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. During his service in Vietnam, Moore was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon and National Defense Service Medal. He worked for Norman Brothers, Inc., Alton, Ill., as a towboat engineer for 20 years 1970 - 1995, and owned and operated a cattle farm in Henley, Mo. After retiring from the river, he started his own wrecker service, Double D Towing & Tire, Eugene, Mo., which he operated for 5 years, 1995 - 2000. Along with his wife he is survived by one daughter, Lishia Jo Moore of Osage Beach, and her fiancÈ Shawn Stevens and family; two sisters, Karen Carroll and her husband Steve from Shalimar, Florida, Janet Burchfield and her husband David from Mulga, Alabama; three nieces and one great nephew. Danny was a lifetime member of the VFW and lifetime member of the National Riflemen's Association. He enjoyed hunting, 4 wheeling, riding motorcycles, was an avid reader and was crazy about restoring vintage cars. The visitation and funeral will be held at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City, Mo., on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, Mo.
