Elsie A. Uthe

December 29, 1921 - April 28, 2013

Elsie A. Uthe, age 91, of Morrison, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the home of her son in Chamois. Elsie was born December 29, 1921, in Hope, a daughter of the late William Carl and Mary (Hemeyer) Ruegge. Elsie was a lifelong area resident and attended school in Hope. On September 15, 1956, she was united in marriage to Raymond Uthe at the Salem Presbyterian Church in Hope. He survives at the home. Elsie was a wonderful homemaker and a beloved babysitter to many area children. Elsie was a lifelong member of Bethel Salem Presbyterian Church in Hope and a member of the Presbyterian Women's Group. She enjoyed quilting, playing pinochle, her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking, canning and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Elsie is survived by: one son, Roger and his wife Cathy Uthe of Chamois; one daughter, Judy Uthe (Jr. Luebbert) of Jefferson City; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Uthe of Chamois; eight grandchildren, Jim Ogg, Joe (Monica) Ogg, Matt Whitman, Lacey Uthe, Lara Uthe, Kurtis (Sarah) Uthe, Lea Uthe, and Shaelen Uthe; seven great-grandchildren and two nieces. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by: one son, Russell Uthe; and three sisters, Minnie Schollmeyer, Helen Wulff, and Stella Ruegge. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at Morton Chapel in Linn. An additional visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Bethel Salem Presbyterian Church in Hope with the Rev. Bob Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Salem Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hope Salem Cemetery Association.
