Rosemary Treu

September 6, 1932 - March 18, 2013

Rosemary (Reed) Treu, 80, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home. She was born September 6, 1932, on the family farm near McGregor, Texas, the daughter of Julius Franklin and Ethel Eugene (Abbe) Reed, who along with her brothers Aruld, Alton and Floyd Wayne Reed and sisters Florine Brazzil and Jorienne Bubert preceded her in death. Rosemary grew up in McGregor, Texas. She is a graduate of McGregor High School and the National School of Business. She was employed by the Nabisco Company in Waco, Texas, for 10 years as a cashier and bookkeeper. In 1959, she met her future husband Bill who was in Navigator training at James Connally Air Force Base, Texas. They were married on July 2, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco with Father Mark Deering officiating. Rosemary was a stay at home Mom, active in PTA, served as a Cub Scout leader, and number one chauffeur to endless youth activities during the children's school years. Her life revolved around her family. She took great pride in providing a home filled with warmth, comfort and Christian values. As her family grew, Rosemary's children and grandchildren always knew they were loved and supported through her endless patience, guidance, candor when necessary, and words of loving encouragement. She was an avid reader, liked to travel and attend theatrical productions, and loved flowers, the color pink, and pretty things. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, The Daughters of the American Revolution, the Military Officers Association Auxiliary, The Daughters of Isabella and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William (Bill) of the home; two sons, Bill (Stacey), Bellevue, Neb.; John (Deanna), Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Cindy (Trevor) Whitney and Cheryl (Brian) O'Donnell, both of Overland Park, Kan. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren: Kelli and Eric O'Donnell, Jack, Christopher, Jeffrey and Jessica Treu and Grant Whitney; and nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with the Rosary being prayed at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. The family suggests donations to the Samaritan Center, Vitae Foundation or a charity of choice.
