Mary Virginia Williamson

February 15, 1925 - June 9, 2013

Mrs. Mary Virginia Williamson, age 88 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her granddaughter's home surrounded by family. Virginia was born on February 15, 1925, in Keytesville, Mo., a daughter of Lloyd M. and Mary E. Berry Bishop. She was married on November 6, 1947, in Columbia, Mo. to Melvin Earl Williamson, who preceded her in death on May 19, 2008. A resident of the Central Missouri area for most of her life, Virginia graduated from Hickman High School. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Mid-Mo. Campers Association. Survivors include: two sons, Lloyd E. Williamson and his wife Antionette of Jefferson City, Mo., and Terry W. Williamson and his wife Patsy of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Geneva Shock of California, Mo.; one brother, Ray Bishop and his wife Rosemary of Centertown, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; one brother, Eddie Bishop; and one grandson, Christopher Verkamp Williamson. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Keith Vessell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
