Margaret Lucy McCormick

October 30, 1940 - June 5, 2013

Margaret Lucy (nee Longmeyer) McCormick, age 72, of St. Louis, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from complications related to cancer of the gall bladder. Born October 30, 1940 to Lucy and Francis Joseph Longmeyer, Margaret grew up in Greenfield, Illinois, before attending Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. While attending SIU, Margaret met Joseph A. McCormick, her husband of 52 years. They were married April 8, 1961. After living in California and Texas, Margaret and her husband settled on a farm in Manhattan, Illinois, were they spent more than 30 years and raised seven children. During her final years, Margaret split her time between St. Louis and Jefferson City, Missouri. Margaret is survived by her husband, Joseph A. McCormick, and their seven children, Claudia (Mike) Kehoe, Joseph A. McCormick Jr., Thomas (Elisabeth) McCormick, John (Stephane) McCormick, Francis James (Kathy) McCormick, Margaret (Keith) Krukowski, and Sarah (Corge) Umlauf; 12 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her siblings Joe (Marilyn), John (Janice), George, and Mary Lee Longmeyer. Visitation will be held in St. Louis on Saturday, June 8 from 4-8 p.m. at the Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd. in Creve Coeur, and in Manhattan, Illinois at Forsythe Funeral Home on Monday, June 10 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. then to St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Margaret will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery following the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, the McCormick Family suggests donations be made to the following: St. Joseph's Cathedral School, 2303 West Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65109; St. Joseph's Catholic School, 275 West North Street, Manhattan, IL 60442; or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
