Daniel Henry Loesch U.S. Veteran

Daniel Henry Loesch, age 91, of Lohman, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City. He was born May 12, 1921, in Jefferson City, a son of Edwin and Anna Mueller Loesch. Daniel was united in marriage to Martha Pistel on May 9, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman. Martha preceded him in death August 9, 2011 after celebrating 65 years of marriage. He attended Corinth grade school and graduated from the Zion grade school. Daniel was a World War II veteran, serving his country from 1942 to 1946. He loved to talk about his Army days, convoying through the South Pacific and in the 170th Supply Ordinance as a truck driver. He was a full time farmer, spending endless hours operating his two farms raising livestock and crops. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman, an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by four children and their spouses, Ron and Shirley Loesch of Mexico, Geraldine and Terry Surface, Jim and Cynthia Loesch and Marlene Carlson, all of Jefferson City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Kevin Yanskey, David and Stephanie Loesch, Tim and Debbie Surface, Rachel and Matt Pritchard and Bryan and Jessica Anderson; 13 great- grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marinda Pistel; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Nora Linsenbardt, Alice Stubinger and Edith Hammann; one brother, Norman Loesch; a son-in-law, Earl Carlson; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lohman. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or St. Paul's Cemetery Fund.
