Alice Polendo Templeton U.S. Veteran

May 22, 1941 - January 22, 2013

Alice Polendo Templeton, age 71, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2013, at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Alice was born on May 22, 1941, in Stockdale, to Mr. and Mrs. Ben and Genoveva (Lopez) Polendo. She later graduated from Our Lady of the Lake High School in San Antonio, where she was raised. She honorably served her country having been formerly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Later, she moved to Jefferson City, Mo., where she lived for 43 years to raise her family. Alice earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Columbia College and worked for the State of Missouri, retiring at Missouri Employment Security Department of Corrections in 2006. After retiring, Alice moved back to her hometown, San Antonio, Texas, to be close to her parents. Alice was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, crocheting, baking and most of all being with her family. She was a kind, loving, and giving person who always found the good in others. She served as a shining example of Christ's love through her deep faith. In life Alice was dearly loved by many and in death she is greatly missed, though her spirit lives on eternally through her family. Alice is survived by her children, Andrea Templeton, Alisa (Scott) Denney, Tony (Gayle) Templeton, Allen (Tammy) Templeton, Anita (Grant) Shaffer and Alane Iven; father, Ben Polendo; brothers, Benito (Margie) Polendo and Abel (Esther) Polendo; sister, Anita Polendo; grandchildren, Monica Polendo, Natalie Polendo, Ashley Emmerich, Adam Denney, Aerik Denney, Anna Denney, Eli Templeton, Levi Templeton, Destiny Galbreath, Avery Templeton, Isaac Templeton, Jarek Templeton, Alex Shaffer, Garrett Shaffer, Luke Shaffer, Dale Shaffer, Amber Iven, Taylor Iven and Crystal Iven; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Denney, Brooke Denney and Jada Galbreath; and many nieces and nephews. Her mother; sister, Elena Polendo; grandson, Cody Ratliff; and great-granddaughter, Adriana Logan-Bax-Templeton, all preceded her in death. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary vigil to be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Finch Funeral Chapel, Stockdale. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockdale, with Father Dennis Jarzombek officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Stockdale. Online condolences may be left at www.finchfuneralchapels.com.
