Jerome “Jerry” Schwartz

Jerome "Jerry" Schwartz, 73, of Westphalia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Jerry was born on December 5, 1939, in Folk, Missouri, to the late Anton and Loretta Schwartz. Jerry was united in marriage on October 21, 1967, to Agnes (Toebben) Schwartz at St. Francis Xavier Church in Taos. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1969. Jerry worked for McGraw-Edison for 18 years and then worked for ABB (formerly Westinghouse) for 25 years, retiring in 1997. Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Missouri. Jerry loved spending time with his family and truly enjoyed his grandchildren. Jerry was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and spending time at the farm. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with his family and friends. Jerry loved to help people and devoted so much of his time helping take care of sick relatives and driving people to doctor appointments or other errands. He enjoyed being the unofficial Wal-Mart greeter. His wonderful laugh and quick sense of humor will be sorely missed. Jerry will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Agnes, of the home; and two sons, Michael "Mike" Schwartz and Kenneth "KJ" Schwartz, both of Westphalia; his five grandchildren, Cody, Brookelyn, Sydney, Zachery "Zach", and Ryan Schwartz, all of Westphalia. Jerry is also survived by two brothers, Walter Schwartz, Argyle, and David (Mary) Schwartz, Westphalia; and a sister, Joan (Walter) Berhorst, Westphalia; brother-in-law, Bill Temmen, Westphalia;, and numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James "Jimmy" Schwartz; a sister, Irene Temmen; and his sister-in-law, Teresa Schwartz. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m, Monday, January 21, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Missouri. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia, Missouri. Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2013, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Hilke-Millard Funeral Chapel in Westphalia. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Missouri.
