Robert I.S. Hunter, 99, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born January 6, 1914, in Aberdeen, Scotland, a son of the late Robert I. G. and Nellie (Smith) Hunter. On September 2, 1945, he was united in marriage to Virginia May Fiend, who preceded him in death. Robert attended high school in Detroit, Mich. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He retired in 1976 as the Chief Claim Agent for Conrail Railroad where he was employed for 38 years. Robert attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville. He was a member of the American Legion. Robert is survived by one son: Robert I. Hunter Jr. of Middlebury, Conn.; two grandchildren: Elizabeth Hunter and Robert Hunter. He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law: Barbara Hunter; one brother: Charlie Hunter; and one sister: Nellie Hoff. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Father Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
