Mary Florence Anderson

1910 - 2013

Mary Florence (Pointer) Anderson, age 102, left this world for her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at her home in Jefferson City. She was born November 27, 1910, at Vienna, a daughter of James Allen Pointer and Mary AlMarthe (Shanks) Pointer. She married Marion Joseph Anderson on September 15, 1929, at St. Louis, who preceded her in death on November 24, 1989. She was the beloved mother of Audrey Hoffman, of Jefferson City, and Marjorie Pierce, deceased. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Perry, Ralph, William, Frank, and Charles Pointer; two sisters, Sylvia Pointer and Edna Edwards; mother-in-law, Emma Anderson; a niece, a nephew and other family members. Mary was an active member of the Baptist Church for all of her life and attended the Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna, Ballwin Baptist Church and Tower Grove Baptist Church, both in St. Louis, Belle Baptist Church, and Memorial Baptist Church, Jefferson City, where she was still a member. After retiring from her business in St. Louis, she and Marion moved to Cooper Hill where she became active in the women's auxiliary of the Cooper Hill United Church of Christ in their quilting group. Mary also made many quilts for her family and for various charitable organizations fund raising projects. She was an avid gardener, both plants and vegetables, and canned hundreds of jars of produce which she shared with family and friends. After moving to Jefferson City in 1987, Mary became a volunteer in the Capital Region Medical Center Partners Auxiliary and remained a member of the auxiliary until her death. Mary was an inspiration to all who knew her because of her Christian faith, her positive attitude toward life, and her love for others. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Those left to mourn her death include: her daughter, Audrey Hoffman, Jefferson City; grandchildren: Keith Hoffman and wife Casey, Jefferson City, Gregory Hoffman, St. Louis, Brenda Koenigsfeld, Jefferson City, and Bruce Pierce; great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Daniel and wife Stephanie, and Andrew Koeningsfeld and Jill O'Day; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted for Mary at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 5, 2013, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Interment will be in the Anderson Cemetery, Usefull, Missouri, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 5, 2013, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to Capital Region Medical Center Partners Auxiliary Scholarship Fund or the Memorial Baptist Church with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
