Doris M. Walters

September 18, 1923 - February 17, 2013

Mrs. Doris M. Walters, age 89 years, of Centertown, Mo., died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. Doris was born September 18, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Edgar and Helen Schively McClurg. She was married on December 23, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo. to David A. Walters, who preceded her in death in October, 1992. A resident of the central Missouri area for the past 30 years, Doris was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She loved spending time with her family and running after her great- grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting angels, bobble heads, and beanie babies. She cherished the dinners that she was able to have with her friends. Survivors include: two sons, Ron R. Walters and his wife Kathy of Centertown, Mo. and Dan Walters and his wife Marcia of McPherson, Kansas; one sister, Marion Brinkman of Apple Valley, California; four grandchildren, Jason Walters and his wife Taya, Joshua Walters and his wife Heather, David Walters and his wife Diane, and Keely Bontrager and her husband Matthew; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; two brothers, Edgar McClurg and Jack McClurg; and one sister, Geraldine McClurg. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with Deacon Francis Butel officiating. Private interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Martin's Catholic School.
