Robert “Bobbob” Lester Hogge

Robert Lester "Bobbob" Hogge, age 89, of California, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at California Care Center, California. Robert Lester "Bobbob" Hogge was born on June 26, 1923, in Morehead, Ky. His parents were Maude Cooper Hogge and Lester Hogge. Robert had one brother, Elijah M. Hogge, and one sister, Barbara Ann Smith, (both deceased). Bob attended Breckenridge Preparatory School before attending Morehead State University in Kentucky. He then joined the Navy. While in the Navy he attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, where he met Eleanor J. Todd. They were married in Miami, Fla., on June 30, 1945. He served as an ensign in the Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He then returned to Morehead State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education to teach history and political science. He moved to California and entered into partnership with Bill Todd in the Todd-Hogge Ford dealership for 41 years. He retired in 1988. Bob was Presiding Commissioner of Moniteau County for 12 years. Bob served with many organizations in California as a member of the board including Moniteau R-1 School, United Methodist Church, California Country Club, Farmers and Traders Bank and Central Trust Bank and served as president of California Progress Inc. Bob and Eleanor have two daughters, Dana Bolin (Don), Jefferson City, and Dale Maude Graff (William), Prairie Home; five grandchildren, Todd Bolin, Jefferson City, Ashley (Erik) Thomas, Jefferson City, Leslie Graff, Memphis, Tenn., Andy Bolin (Amber), California, and Chris (Sarah) Graff, California; and six great-grandchildren: William Todd Bolin, Mikayla Alice Thomas, Drew Christopher Graff, Jalen Thomas Graff, Chatman Logue Pardoe, Brady Lane Bolin. Bob had one daughter, Gail Beth, who died in child birth. Bob's hobbies included golf, fishing, refinishing furniture, gardening and watching all kinds of sports. He was proud of his work adding the elevator at the Moniteau County Courthouse while he was Presiding Commissioner. Bob Hogge was known to be trustworthy, will speak the truth and is a man of integrity and character. He loved Kentucky, Moniteau County and California. He was education and civic-minded and loved his family more than anything. Visitation for Mr. Hogge will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service in California. Funeral Services will be held at the California United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 with Rev. Eric Moore, Gail Hughes and John Kay officiating.
