Faye Carter

Faye Tull Carter, 95, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Adams Street Place. She was born on September 1, 1917, in Greensboro, Alabama, the daughter of the late Irving Clifford and Alice (Jones) Tull. She was a 1934 graduate of Lincoln Laboratory School; received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln University in 1938; and earned a Master of Library Science degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1953. In earlier years, Faye taught Home Economics at Wheatley High School in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She retired in 1989 as Assistant Librarian in Charge of Acquisitions at Lincoln University where she had been employed for 43 years. During that time she also taught children's literature. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church; American Library Association; Missouri Library Association; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Association of Retired Missouri State Employees; St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary; and Lincoln University Alumni Association. Faye enjoyed word puzzles, reading, listening to music, yard work, and watching plays. Survivors include one daughter, Janice Kay Carter, Oakland, California; one step-daughter, Tamara Carter, Los Angeles, Calif.; and three step-sons, Eric, Phillip, and Mann Carter. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City with the Reverend Shariya Molegoda officiating. Entombment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be Saturday, 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the church.
