William Paul Snellen

Mr. William Paul Snellen, age 74 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home. Paul was born on November 12, 1938, in Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Carl and Pauline Tripp Snellen. He was married on August 17, 1957, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Joyce Jenkins. Paul graduated from Jefferson City High School and attended the University of Missouri and the Wyoming Technical School. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Paul was employed in the automotive industry for 22 years with Shikles, McKay Buick, Knipp Motors, and James Motors. From 1977, until his retirement in 1998, Paul taught auto body repair at Nichols Career Center. Paul began attending First Assembly of God at the age of two weeks and remained a faithful member all his life. He was an extremely active member at First Assembly and sang at many church services and special occasions. Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Joyce Snellen; four sons, Rick Snellen and his wife Darla, Mark Snellen and his wife Micki, Michael Snellen, and Darren Snellen and his wife Monica, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Lisa Hamacher and her husband Willis of Holts Summit, Mo.; one brother, Ralph Snellen and his wife Mary Jane of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Shaun, Lori, Matthew, Kylie, Courtney, Gibson, and Gabriel; and six great-grandchildren, Preston, Kayden, Lilly, Ali, Addisyn, and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Helen Yates, Lois Snellen, and Louise Snellen; and two brothers, David Snellen and Larry Snellen. Visitation will be at First Assembly of God from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at First Assembly of God with the Reverend Lowell Perkins. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Teen Challenge c/o First Assembly of God, which invests in the lives of broken and wounded young people. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
