Wanda Pauline (Nixon) Collins

Wanda Pauline (Nixon) Collins, 84, of Holt Summit, Mo., died Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Valley Park Retirement Center after a short illness. She was born December 6, 1927, in Spiro, Okla., the daughter of Othel Nixon and Lillian (Pepper) Nixon Cox. She lived and attended school in Ft. Smith, Ark., until the family moved to Redlands, Calif. in 1944. She was married to George W. Collins on July 29, 1945, in Yuma, Ariz. They resided in Redlands until 2000, when George passed away and Wanda moved to Holts Summit to be closer to family. She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn (Collins) Grimm and husband Bill of Holt Summit, Mo.; Dianna (Collins) Cooke and husband Joseph E. (Butch) Cooke of Trussville, Ala; and by one brother: Ezekiel William (Bill) Cox and wife Treva of Weeks, Ark. She has left behind three grandchildren: Danielle (Grimm) Murray and husband Randy of Gallatin, Tenn., Wesley Cooke, and Daniel Cook and wife Rachael all of Trussville, Ala. She also was the proud great-grandmother of 14 year old William Clayton (Clay) Murray also of Gallatin, Tenn. She was preceded in death by parents and her loving step-father, Ezekiel William Cox. Wanda was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Missouri. Wanda will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 55 years in Redlands, Calif. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012, at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, Calif. with George Everette officiating.
