Dorothy M. Huls

Mrs. Dorothy M. Huls, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on November 7, 1925, in Marked Tree, Ark., a daughter of Bert and Nina Glasner Wyrick. She was married on May 24, 1949, in Independence, Mo., to John C. Huls, who preceded her in death on November 21, 2007. Dorothy attended high school in Morehouse, Mo. and worked at Blum's Department Store in Sikeston, Mo. She later worked at a factory in St. Louis making ammunition during World War II. A resident of Jefferson City for over 50 years, Dorothy was employed in the office at Schulte's IGA for 30 years retiring in 1987. After retirement Dorothy and John enjoyed traveling in their R.V. across the United States. Her family always was her main priority and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa L. Cook and her husband Leon of Jefferson City; three sons, Max T. Huls of Jacksonville, Fla., James G. Huls and his wife Sandy of Holts Summit, Mo., and John K. Huls and his wife Suzanne of Somerset, Pa.; one sister, Jo Ann Wyrick Jackson and her husband Wayne of Dexter, Mo.; one brother, Charles Wyrick and his wife Freda of Morehouse, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Victor Huls, Kate Rollins, Lacy Huls, Ginah Huls, Andrea Becker and her husband Ryan, Jimmy Cook, Nicole Huls, Danielle Huls-Steinbeck, and Samantha Huls; five great-grandchildren, Sophia Steinbeck, Abagail Becker, Carly Becker, Madelyn Wilson, and Haylie Young; and two step-grandchildren, Travis Velluma and Angel Long. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, John Huls; and four brothers, Don Wyrick, Arnold Wyrick, J.W. Wyrick, and Jim Wyrick. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe Street, Suite 100, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
