Eleanor F. Scheppers, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at her home. She was born January 22, 1917, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Louise (Campagna) Amato. She was a 1935 graduate of Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo. and went on to graduate in 1937, from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. On June 9, 1942, Eleanor was united in marriage at Sacred Heart Church in Columbia, Missouri, to Norbert H. Scheppers, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1998. After graduation, Eleanor worked as a secretary to the Dean of Administration at Stephens College and later as executive secretary to the owners of a defense plant during World War II, Faahlin Manufacturing Company in Columbia. In 1958, she moved with her family to Jefferson City. Norbert and Eleanor were founders of N.H. Scheppers Distributing Company of Jefferson City and Columbia. Eleanor was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Church Circle and the St. Ann's Sodality of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a member of the Daughter's of Isabella; a life member of St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary; Cole County Historical Society; a friend of Capital City Arts; and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Eleanor was an avid card player and played bridge with her friends weekly. She was also a dedicated fan of the Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Her hobbies included collecting dolls and angels. But, what she loved the most was being with her family. Eleanor is survived by three children: Dr. Marydeth Priesmeyer of Columbia; Teresa Tolksdorf (husband Matt) of Jefferson City; Joe Scheppers (wife Brenda) of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren: Joseph Priesmeyer (wife Angie); Scott Priesmeyer (wife Stephanie); Shawn Priesmeyer (wife Lacy); Jamie Scheppers and Christy Scheppers, all of Columbia; Jeff Tolksdorf of St. Louis; Kim Tolksdorf of Astoria, New York; Julia Tolksdorf of Jefferson City; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law: Joe Priesmeyer. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Msgr. David D. Cox officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Helias Foundation, Fr.
