Irma Verslues

Irma Jean Verslues, 70, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born January 1, 1942, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Robert O. and Mary A. (Hackman) Vivion. She attended St. Peter's grade school and was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in 1965, from Mt. Carmel College in Pittsburg, Kansas. On August 28, 1965, Irma was united in marriage to Roger F. Verslues, who survives at their home. Irma was a Registered Nurse and worked for St. Mary's Health Center from 1967 - 1973, and with the Cole County Health Department from 1973 until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Immaculata Club. She was a Docent at the Governor's Mansion, and was a volunteer at Capital Region Medical Center. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids sporting events, taking care of her roses, road trips with friends and her Bunco girls. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Along with her husband Roger, Irma is also survived by three daughters: Leigh Ann Wieberg (husband Mark) of Jefferson City, Mo.; Shelly Bax (husband Bruce) of Jefferson City, Mo.; Sarah Huhn (husband Keith) of Folk, Mo.; one son: Bryan Verslues (wife Marie) of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters: Helen Mueller (husband Forrest) of Mexico, Mo.; Shirley Scott of Mountain View, Mo.; three brothers: Clifford Vivion (wife Sue) of Hallsville, Mo.; Richard Vivion of Jefferson City, Mo.; Ronnie Vivion of Jefferson City, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren: Adam Wieberg, Sam Wieberg, Morgan Wieberg, Nick Bax, Lauren Bax, Ethan Bax, Raegan Huhn, Madelyn Huhn, Saige Verslues and Savannah Verslues. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor David D. Cox officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer Association, Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, or Hospice Compassus.
