Jeffery J. Majersky

Mr. Jeffery J. Majersky, age 64 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. Jeff was born on May 2, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minn., a son of Joseph G. and Evelyn D. Solem Majersky. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Jeff was a graduate of La Salette Seminary. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. He did graduate courses at Lincoln University and later received his Masters degree in History in 1983. From 1983 until 1989, he took Ph. D. courses in History, Art, and Political Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Jeff was employed as a professor at Lincoln University for over 25 years teaching mostly history and social sciences courses and also taught Latin for a brief time at Helias High School. Before his employment at Lincoln, he worked as a storekeeper at the Missouri Highway Patrol and as a clerk at Super D. He was a charter member of the Lincoln University history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta chapter, and a member and sponsor of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. He was also a member of Optimist International and served as Lieutenant Governor of the Missouri District from 1979 until 1980. Jeff was fluent in seven different languages and always enjoyed learning about other cultures and history. Survivors include: one brother, Joe Majersky of Jefferson City; three sisters, Shirley Majersky, Sharon Rader, and Teresa Davis and her husband Eric, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; three nephews, Jeremiah Majersky, Austin Davis, and Zachary Davis; one niece, Felicia Majersky; his great-nephew, Hunter Beene; and his great-niece, Katelyn Beene. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ron Majersky; and one sister, Mary Majersky. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012, with a prayer service to be conducted at 4:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at St. Peters Catholic Church with the Reverend Callistus Okoroji and the Reverend Francis Doyle concelebrating. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity.
