Richard Stanley Van Sciver, 76, of Jefferson City, passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Eldon Nursing and Rehab. He was born January 14, 1936, in Beverly, New Jersey, the son of the late Walter and Evelyn (Devenny) Van Sciver. On April 29, 1954, he was united in marriage to Susan L. Middleton, who survives at their home. Richard was retired as an electrician. He was a member and former President of the I.B.E.W. Local 257. He was also a jack of all trades and was a World War II History Buff. Richard loved horses, baseball, football and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Most of all, he was a big supporter if his grandson's racing. Along with his wife Susan he is survived by four daughters: Judith " Judy" Van Sciver of Eldon; Debra Brittain husband Andy of Kailua, Hawaii; Kathleen Carrender husband Jerry of Jefferson City, and Susan Russell husband Charles of Henley; two sisters: Joan Johnson of Key Largo, Florida and Kathleen Ray of Washington D.C.; 11 grandsons, four granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother: Walter Van Sciver and two sisters: Lily Westphal and Jean Van Sciver. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
