Bernadine “Bernie” Marie Boss

Bernadine (Bernie) Marie Boss, 89, of Holts Summit, formerly of Chamois, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at her home in Holts Summit. She was born September 16, 1922, in Linn, a daughter of the late Leo and Sadie (Sallin) Sieg. On July 14, 1942, Bernadine was united in marriage in Chamois, at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church to William Otto Boss, who preceded her in death on October 25, 1962. Bernadine worked at the Pants Factory in Chamois, Ben Casteel Brick and Paint, and Goldes Department Store. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois, and later on the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City. Bernadine loved to dance, especially the "Jitterbug". She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the boat and taking trips to Las Vegas with her sister. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was a big fan of Elvis. Bernadine loved to play "pitch" and eat pie with her family. Most of all, she cherished the special moments with her family. During her illness, Bernadine was able to stay at her home due to the devotion of her daughter, Becky, and granddaughter, Desiree. Bernadine is survived by five children: William T. Boss (wife Dolores) of St. Martins, Dennis W. Boss (wife Sondra) of Fayette, Dianna M. Letterman (husband Floyd) of Jefferson City, Wade R. Boss (wife Linda) of Holts Summit, Rebecca A. (Boss) Arthur (husband John) of Jefferson City; devoted granddaughters: Desiree Boss and Amanda Boss; one brother: Lincoln Sieg (wife Lucille) of Linn; one sister-in-law: Darlene Sieg of Chamois; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by eight siblings: Viola Mantle, Delcie Butler, Chester Sieg, Norene Hager, Nellie Jobe, Calvin Sieg, Russell Sieg and Stanley Sieg. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Chamois. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois with Fr. David A. Means officiating. Interment will follow in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
