Joann Wilhelm

Joann Edith Wilhelm, 66, of Centertown, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at her home. She was born January 30, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a daughter of Paul W.C. and Maxine Frieda (Fahlsing) Hegerfeld. She was a 1964 graduate of Centralia High School in Centralia, Missouri. Joann worked at the Florsheim Distribution Center in Jefferson City for 34 years before retiring in 2000. In 2004, she went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections at the Algoa Correctional Center until retiring in 2011. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been active with the Evening Guild, Ladies Auxiliary and Circle 5 and was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 35 Ladies Auxiliary. Joann enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. On August 23, 1977, Joann was united in marriage in Richmond, Missouri, to Harold Wilhelm, who survives at their home. Other survivors include three children: Arthur Paul Sanders, Loretta Ann Wilhelm, Jessica Ann Wilhelm and fiancÈe Bradley James Ray, all of Jefferson City; two brothers: Earl Paul Hegerfeld and wife Denise of Chamois, Kenneth Neal Hegerfeld of California; and five grandchildren: Samantha Nicole Gingerich, David Paul Joseph Sanders, McCaila SaBria Wright, Daemond William Paul Wright and Calleigh Anne-Marye Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Melvin Hegerfeld. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Powell officiating.
