Virginia "Ginger" Coates, 48, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born November 5, 1963, in Dover, Ohio the daughter of the late James E. Stephan and Carol Schultz McDonald. On February 26, 1999, she was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Daniel Coates, he survives at the home. Virginia was a 1982 graduate of Dover High School and the Buckeye Career Center. After graduation she enlisted in the United States Army, where she served for seven years, enjoying the time she spent in Germany. Virginia was a loving caregiver, working for United Cerebral Palsy and Easter Seals. She was a member of Solid Rock Family Church. Virginia was a strong believer in her Lord and Savior. She loved spending time with her husband, children and special granddaughter Serenity Foster. She was loved and will be missed by many. Along with her husband and her mother, she is survived by one daughter: Gabrielle Foster husband Zach of Jefferson City; one son: Thomas Lee of Jefferson City; two sisters: Cindy Franks of Canton, Ohio, Carol Varnes of Dover, Ohio; one brother: James Stephan II of Dover, Ohio; granddaughter: Serenity Rayne Foster; mother-in-law: Lavona Coates of Jefferson City; two brother-in-laws: Joe L. Coates Jr. of Jefferson City, and Neal W. Coates of Milwaukee Wisconsin and sister-in-law: Robin Brandon of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by father-in-law: Joe L. Coates Sr. and two sisters-in-law: Angela Coates and Sandra Coates. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Solid Rock Family Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Joe Skiles officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Rape and Abuse Crises Center of Jefferson City.
