Evelyn Lois Boyles Maurer

Mrs. Evelyn Lois Boyles Maurer, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, February 24, 2012, at the University Hospital, Columbia, Mo. Lois was born August 5, 1925, in Shelbyville, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd and Edith Schatz Boyles. She was married on June 3, 1951, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Alvin D. Maurer. She was a 1943 graduate of Shelbyville High School and a 1945 graduate of Molene Business College, Moline, Illinois. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1945, Lois was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Missouri Division of Insurance, the Missouri Dept. of Consumer Affairs and Licensing, and with the Missouri Dept. of Economic Development until her retirement in 1987. Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Lutheran Evening Guild. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Zeta Master. She was a 4H Leader and also a volunteer at Memorial Community Hospital and helped with the Sunday bulletins at Trinity Lutheran Church. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always willing to help when needed. Lois loved the outdoors and creating special gifts for her friends and family. Survivors include: her husband of sixty years, Alvin D. Maurer; one daughter, Janet Maurer of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, C.L. Maurer and his wife Mary of Lawrence, Kansas; one brother, Elwyn "Al" Boyles of Rock Island, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kyle Case and his wife Kelly of Lawrence, Kansas, Mark Case and his girl friend Katie Steinbrink of Lawrence, Kansas, Katie Case and her fiancÈ, Nathan McAleese of Lawrence, Kansas, and Corey Nevins of Jefferson City, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Justice Case, Hailin Case, Tyler Case, and Megan Nevins; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Bower; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Boyles. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Samuel Powell officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Calvary Lutheran High School, the Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville, Mo., or the Robinson School in Shelbyville, Mo.
