Mr. Donald E. Hug, age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012, at his home. Don was born on August 17, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of Edward and Alma Rode Hug. He was married on December 31, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo., to Clara A. Briedenbach, who preceded him in death on July 28, 2010. Don served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II from April 1943 until March 1946. After his service in World War II, Don was employed with Reliable Life Insurance in St. Louis. In 1968, he moved to Jefferson City to work as a commercial truck driver for a propane company. He later worked for Missouri Employment Security and the Missouri River Regional Library until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; and the U.S.S. Arthur Middletown Association for World War II reunions. Don was an avid reader and also enjoyed building model railroads and Lionel trains. Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Parish and her husband Bill of Jefferson City, Mo.; one granddaughter, Lisa Yarberry and her husband Jeremy of Garden City, Kan.; and two great-granddaughters, Renee and Addison Yarberry. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; and two brothers, Richard Hug and Virgil Hug. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
