Mr. Joseph W. "Joe" Elliott, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Health Center. Joe was born December 15, 1929, in Hamilton, Mo., the son of JW and Retha Brelsford Elliott. He married Constance "Connie" Klinkner on July 22, 2003 in Nelson, Mo. He had previously been married to Billie Tabler on December 24, 1951, who preceded him in death on July 14, 1989. Joe was a 1948 graduate of Polo High School in Polo, Mo. After high school he served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Armco Steel Company, currently AK Steel Company, in Independence, Mo., for 34 years until his retirement. For the past 10 years, Joe's whole life has been taking care of his wife, Connie, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed camping and traveling. Survivors include: his wife, Connie Elliott; one daughter, Sandra Elliott of Cameron, Mo.; three sons, Terry Elliott, Robert Klinkner and his wife Cris of Jefferson City, Mo., and Brian Klinkner and his wife Tracy of Fenton, Mo.; three sisters, Luetta McFall of Hamilton, Mo., Rita Feil of Cowgill, Mo., and Colene Clark and her husband Lyle of Hamilton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Justin Klinkner, Kevin Klinkner, Cassie Klinkner, and Kelly Klinkner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Billie Elliott. Pallbearers at his services will be Robert Klinkner, Brian Klinkner, Justin Klinkner, Wayne Feil, John Feil and James Feil. Joe's family would like to thank St. Mary's Health Center for all the care and compassion they showed him and St. Stanislaus Church for their nursing home ministry. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with Chaplain Paul Deutsch officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
