Bernard Paul Dudenhoeffer
Bernard Paul Dudenhoeffer, 83, of Jefferson City, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 24, 1929, in Frankenstein, a son of Paul and Mary (Samson) Dudenhoeffer. He was united in marriage on September 12, 1953, to Rose Marie Schmid, who preceded him in death on December 9, 2007. Bernard was a graduate of the St. Mary's High School in Frankenstein, where he was the senior class president. He received a scholarship to attend and graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Springfield. Bernard served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War as a Peace Keeper. After his tour of duty in the military, he worked for Epple Construction and later owned and operated AAA Masonry for 22 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Past President of Holy Name Society, Bricklayers Local 15 Gold Member and Cursillo. He enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, wine making, canning, gardening, hunting, fishing, inventing gadgets, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a very generous man with both his talents and his treasure. He is survived by five sons: Gerard and wife Patti of Holts Summit, Pat and wife Pearl of Jefferson City, Brian and wife Ginny of Hickory Hill, Kurt and wife Carol of Jefferson City, Todd and wife Coletta of Springfield; two daughters: Mary Sennott and husband James of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Beverly Foley and husband Jeff of Lee's Summit; five brothers: Francis Dudenhoeffer of Linn, George and wife Gen Dudenhoeffer of Frankenstein, Vince and wife Patsy Dudenhoeffer of Centerville, Iowa, Paul and wife Marilyn Dudenhoeffer of St. Louis, Richard and wife Rita Dudenhoeffer of Linn; one sister: Mary Ann Boillot of Linn; one sister-in-law, Florence Dudenhoeffer of Linn; 29 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Dudenhoeffer; two grandchildren, Julie Sennott and Mathew Shockley; and one brother, Alfons Dudenhoeffer. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the Houser- Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Monsignor Gregory Higley officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or the Pregnancy Help Center of Central Missouri.
