William “Randy” Updegraff

April 10, 1957 - December 16, 2012

William "Randy" Updegraff, 55, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born April 10, 1957, to William "Bill" and Virginia "Ginny" (Sanders) Updegraff. Randy worked as a Decontamination Foreman at the Reform Nuclear Power plant during many outages and worked maintenance at the plant during daily operations. He became a member of the local Laborer's Union #662 in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2693. He was initiated into the Grandview-Hickman Mills, Mo., Elk's Lodge #2088 in 1981 and joined the Jefferson City Elk's Lodge #513 on September 25, 1990. He served as Lecturing Knight, Loyal Knight and Trustee from 1998-2004. In 1996, Randy began serving as the Coordinator of the Northeast District, Missouri Elks Association hospitality rooms. He served the association faithfully in this position to the present. He also served the Jefferson City Lodge as Accident Prevention manager, Director of the Swimming Pool and coordinated Lodge fund raisers. Randy is survived by Linda Adrian, whom he called the "love of his life"; his father; two daughters, Samantha Rodden of Jefferson City, Melody Mulkey and husband Ron of Acworth, Ga.; three brothers, Steve Updegraff of Blue Springs, Kim Smith and wife Nancy of Jefferson City, Charles "Chuck" Updegraff and wife Chris of St. Louis; three sisters, Nancy Akers, Deborah Updegraff, Donna Schmitz and husband Jeff all of St. Louis; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and daughter, Alexis Marie. A celebration of Randy's life will take place at the Jefferson City Elk's Lodge #513 on February 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter, 2308 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, MO.
