Daniel Lilburn Medlin U.S. Veteran

October 25, 1956 - August 20, 2012

Daniel Lilburn Medlin, age 55, of Houston, Texas, passed from this world on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas after a short illness. He was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on October 25, 1956, to Nelson David Luadzers and Mary Lou Medlin Luadzers. Daniel was united in marriage to Paula Rowden on August 15, 1981, in Jefferson City, Missouri in the Governor's Garden. Daniel and Paula made their home in Houston, Texas. Daniel will happily be remembered for his fun sense of humor, energy, love of family and many friends and his much loved adopted pets, Grace, Zoe and Ellie. Daniel enjoyed sports especially St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Texans, playing tennis, and participating in fitness and athletic activities, rodeos. Along with Daniel's wife Paula, he is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Medlin Luadzers; a brother, David Luadzers (Jean); three sisters, Iris Taylor and Charmaigne Tellman, both of Jefferson City and Kimberly Mayor of Haskell, Texas; mother and father-in-law, W.C. and Launa Rowden, of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Frederickson of Jefferson City and Sarah Miller (Paul) of Fulton, Missouri; many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Nelson David Luadzers; a brother, Mark Edward Luadzers; maternal grandparents, Josephine and John 'Herman' Tagart; and paternal grandparents, Edward and Matilda Luadzers. Daniel was a 1975 graduate of Jefferson City Senior High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force and as a reservist in the Missouri National Guard. He received an associate degree in humanities from the University of Maryland and went on to receive a bachelors' degree in finance from University of Houston. At the time of his death, Daniel was employed by Hines as General Manager of the WINPARK Division. Daniel joined Hines in 1990 and had a successful career building WINPARK into one of the largest parking companies in Houston. Daniel was a popular boss making an effort to know each of his 80 employees. He never hesitated to lend a hand where he could and he will be remembered for his generosity whenever an employee had difficult personal issues. Daniel was nationally known as an expert on various parking challenges and he had an extensive client list. Daniel had a big heart for the animals! He was a dedicated member of Red Collar Rescue where he devoted countless hours to helping abused and abandoned dogs find wonderful, loving forever homes. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home Jefferson City, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with the Dr. Stephen H. Buchholz officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Houston, Texas on August 30, 2012 at 6 p.m. at the Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue in downtown Houston.
