Richrd Paul Tremain U.S. Veteran

December 22, 1928 - August 11, 2012

Mr. Richard Paul "Dick" Tremain, age 83 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., was released into the hands of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Heisinger Bluffs. Dick was born on December 22, 1928, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Clarence and Alma Boyce Tremain. He was married on April 10, 1955, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Ruby A. Gretlein, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1993. A 1947 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Dick worked for his dad and uncle in Tremain's Restaurants for 10 years. He served four years in the United States Air Force, serving his country in Korea and Japan. After his discharge, Dick opened Tremain's Medical Arts Coffee Shop. In 1966, he opened Tremain's Airport CafÈ and operated it for 27 years, until his retirement after the 1993 flood. He served as President of the Capital City Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Assn. for three years. Dick received the Restaurateur of the Year Award in 1972 and 1978. He also received the Missouri Restaurant Association Food Service Hall of Fame Award in 1993. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as Elder and Vice-President. Dick was a Past President and served as Fair Chairman for the Jefferson City Jaycees; a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693. Survivors include: one son, Scott Tremain and his wife Annie of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Tremain and Farhad Ketabforoush; one sister, Marlene Bussard and her husband Vern of Tucson, Ariz.; as well as two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. Welcoming Dick to his heavenly home are his wife Ruby; his parents, Alma and Clarence; and his brothers, Eugene and Elmer. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Russ Bowder officiating. Private graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Improvement Fund.
