Wanda “Susie” Sue Donnelly

Mrs. Wanda Sue "Susie" Donnelly, age 87 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at her home. Susie was born January 25, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of J. Carl and Elsie Page Oates. Susie was married on November 16, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Robert T. Donnelly who preceded her in death on June 16, 1999. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. and the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Susie has been a resident of the Jefferson City area since 1965, when her husband, Judge Robert T. Donnelly was appointed to the Missouri Supreme Court. She was a Deacon and Elder with the First Presbyterian Church; a member of the PEO, Chapter BW; a member of the Tuesday Club; and a member of the Missouri Library Assn. Susie was a Trustee with the Thomas Jefferson Regional Library System; served as chairman of the First Governor's Conference on Library and Information Services in 1978; and served as chairman of the Missouri Delegation to the White House Conference on Library and Information Services in 1979. Susie was awarded the Missouri Library Association Meritorious Achievement Award in 1978 and was a recipient of the highest honor bestowed by the Missouri Library Association, its Meritorious Achievement Award for the advancement of library services in Missouri. Survivors include: two sons, Thomas Page Donnelly and his wife Karen of Centreville, Virginia and Brian True Donnelly of Jefferson City, Mo.; one niece, Dr. Deborah Erwin and her husband David Weeks of Buffalo, New York; one nephew, Randy Oates and his wife "Sam" of Punta Gorda, Florida; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Dr. Gordon P. Oates. Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Robert Erickson and the Reverend Dr. David Henry officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice Compassus.
